Creative Writing for Young Children is a one time class that is designed to jumpstart your child in writing. The teacher will show the students the writing prompt and then the teacher will model writing sentences as the story develops. The students will be encouraged to personalize their stories as they write by adding some unique details. Students will have the opportunity to share their stories with the class and they can read the stories to their family after class.
For this class, students need to have the ability to put words down on paper. Spelling words correctly is not critical at this point; simply having the ability to sound out words and write or copy them down is all that is necessary. This class works well for students who are reading fluently and students who are just learning to read words such as "is" "the" "in" "red" etc. Both reluctant writers and young writers who are excited about writing can succeed in this class.
